CNIS has taught Essential Surgical Skills (ESS) to thousands of Tanzanian medical students in Dar es Salaam, Moshi, and Mwanza. Expanding beyond physicians, CNIS launched Safer Obstetrics in Rural Tanzania, shifting focus to clinical associates. Training reached colleges in Tanga, Mwanza, Arusha, Moshi, Mbeya, Kibaha, Sengerema, Mchame, and Mafinga, where programs covered ESS, Structured Operative Obstetrics (SOO), and FIRST for Midwives. Trauma training also advanced, especially in Traumatic Brain and Spine Injury (TBSI), now active in Dar, Moshi, Kilimanjaro, and Arusha. CNIS established skills labs at Mwanza and Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center, later extending to Tanga and Dodoma with Rotary International support. Partnering with the University of Dodoma and Benjamin Mkapa National Hospital, CNIS implemented a comprehensive suite of trainings including ESS, SOO, TTT, and FIRST. This broad, multi disciplinary focus ensures thousands of health providers improve critical surgical and obstetric outcomes, strengthening both urban and rural healthcare systems.
